TRUST in AI conference

November 26, 2020

SmartFactoryEU hosted a workshop on “AI in Industrial Manufacturing” attended by more than 50 participants from EU countries.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Detlef Zuehlke, initiator and Managing Director of SmartFactoryEU, as well as the three founding members of the association provided insights into the future of transnational cooperation in digitized production and into fields of application such as AI-supported data analysis, self-learning process optimization or predictive maintenance. John Blankendaal of Brainport Industries, Dr. Dirk Torfs of FlandersMake and Prof. Dr. Martin Ruskowski of SmartFactory Kaiserslautern gave insights into practical examples of how companies have begun to implement AI in their production.

In addition, current concerns and problem areas of industry 4.0 technologies were discussed – both in the statements as well as during the interactive discussion round with the workshop participants. Of large interest were questions such as of how artificial intelligence can succeed in light of a “try fast, fail fast, learn fast” environment and which education can best prepare next generation employees for future challenges .

The workshop slot was provided by the Zukunftsinitiative Rheinland-Pfalz (ZIRP) e.V., the organisator of the TRUST in AI conference held on November 26, 2020 in a digital format. More information on the conference can be found here.
